The eleventh day of protests in front of the PSOE headquarters in Madrid against the amnesty and the pacts of Pedro Sanchez for his investiture has had an unexpected participant: the ultra-conservative American journalist Tucker Carlson, a broadcaster and political commentator for the Fox network.
Carlson has been seen in Madrid’s Ferraz street next to the leader of Vox, Santiago Abascal. Carlson himself has posted photos of the event on his social networks, which has also contributed to his visibility among like-minded users around the world.
Expelled from Fox for election comments
Tucker Carlson, 54, is a journalist who reached the height of his popularity as an anchor and political commentator for Fox between 2009 and 2023. The journalist shares with the Spanish ultra-right his repudiation of policies and movements such as feminism, abortion rights, policies against climate change or LGTBI rights.
His aggressive style turned his program, Tucker Carlson Tonight, into the most watched program on cable TV in the U.S., with more than three million viewers and leader in the 25-54 age group. The network’s shares lost 2.9% on the day of his dismissal.
President Donald Trump, whom Carlson often publicly supported and with whom he maintained a close relationship, was a frequent guest on his program. His program is credited with being influential in setting the conservative and Republican Party agenda in favor of ‘Trumpist’ policies.
