Innovation is always welcome, and this is precisely what this OLED TV from LG offers us. Innovation. Originality. This South Korean company unveiled it at the beginning of last January, during the celebration of CES, and already at that time it caught our attention because it proposes something unprecedented: transporting video and audio signals to the TV in a completely wireless way. The only cable required for this OLED M is the power cable, although, who knows, maybe in the future it will also be possible to do without it.
LG currently offers us this TV in three different sizes: 77, 83 and 97 inches. Its design is very stylish (it barely has frames), and maintains the same hallmarks of the other premium models with organic panel of this brand: support for Dolby Vision, HDR10 and HLG content; the Alpha 9 Gen 6 image processor designed to deal with artificial intelligence algorithms; Dolby Atmos sound; and, finally, the most recent revision of WebOS, the 23rd. The most interesting features of this TV we haven’t talked about yet.
In practice, this TV is a G3. Yes, an almost completely wireless G3.
As you might expect, this TV features a state-of-the-art 4K UHD evo OLED panel, although only the 77-inch version uses one of LG’s new MLA (Meta-lit Lens Array) micro-lens arrays. This technology allows the organic panels that implement it to deliver brightness peaks in limited regions of the matrix surface of up to 2,100 nits.
However, the 83-inch and 97-inch models incorporate larger self-emissive pixels than the 77-inch, as you might expect, so their peak brightness delivery capability should also be remarkable.
If we stick to picture quality the wireless TVs belonging to the M series deliver an overall picture quality essentially identical to that offered by the G3 series TVs. Their brightness delivery capability is very similar; their image processing is the same; the way in which they restore color is also identical….
In short, these OLED M are pure-bred premium organic panel TVs. All the strengths that are present in the G3 and C3 series models remain intact in these OLED M (to know them in detail you can consult our review of the C3 model). However, they still do not support HDR10+ content. That’s a pity.
