Side effects of medications
Medications such as antibiotics, antidepressants and some anti-inflammatory drugs can interfere with the body’s thermoregulatory mechanisms. They sometimes cause mild fever-like symptoms. It is also best to discuss this situation with your doctor: it may make sense to change medications.
Stress or anxiety
Emotional outburst or anxiety manifests itself in different ways. The body’s reaction to stress can cause the release of certain hormones. These are part of the body’s thermoregulatory system, resulting in a mild feverish state.
When to see a doctor
While a fever without other symptoms is often not a cause for serious concern, there are times when you should see a doctor.
It is necessary to seek medical attention in the following cases:
– If a fever above 38°C persists or rises for several days and has no obvious explanation.
– When the temperature rises, there are symptoms such as persistent coughing, shortness of breath, chest pain or other warning signs.
– If a person has co-morbidities that can lead to a higher risk of developing diseases. These include diabetes, heart disease, or a weakened immune system.
