Are your glasses fogging up? Here’s how you can fight it

You can solve the unpleasant problem with special and improvised means.

Why glasses fog up
The reason is the temperature difference. At low temperatures outside, the surface of the lenses cools down and when you enter the room, moisture from the air settles on them in the form of small drops – condensation. The same thing will happen if the warm air you exhale in the cold gets on the glasses or if you lean your head over a pan of hot liquid.

How to protect your glasses from condensation
The most reliable way is to put lenses with a hydrophilic coating in the frame. It makes the surface of the glass smoother, and water droplets do not linger on it. Such lenses are more expensive than ordinary lenses, but they will not have to be treated and rubbed with anything.

If you don’t plan to replace your glasses, try to protect the glasses from condensation yourself. Here’s how you can do it.

Special products
In opticians you can find hydrophilic compositions in the form of sprays or glasses wipes soaked in them. These products are also called antifogs or antifoggers. They create a thin invisible film on the surface that repels moisture. Before leaving the house you should wipe the glasses from dirt and dust, spray a little antifog, spread it evenly over the lenses and leave it until it dries completely. You will have to repeat the procedure regularly.

This solution is suitable for any glasses: sunglasses, for vision, for swimming and other sports.
