According to the Swedish brand’s plan, mass production of the open-top model should start no earlier than 2026.
The Polestar brand separated from its parent brand Volvo back in 2017, which is now owned by Chinese holding Geely. Recently, the manufacturer held a Polestar Day event in Los Angeles (California), during which new products of the “star” brand were shown. Among them was a production version of the Polestar 6 roadster, which will go into production only in a few years.
Initially, the Swedish brand announced that the circulation of the “green” roadster will be limited to 500 copies. The company announced about the start of applications on August 16, just a week later, the entire batch of Polestar 6 went out on pre-orders. At the same time, there are still those who want to buy the roadster: the manufacturer has recorded a fairly high demand for the announced novelty.
For this reason, Polestar is thinking about not to set a limit on the circulation of “six”, and to produce cars as demand. This is reported by the British Autocar with reference to the CEO of the company Thomas Ingenlath. In particular, he said that Polestar “will not stop at 500 [copies] if people want it.”
It is known that serial production of the Polestar 6 will begin in 2026, there is no more precise date for the start of production yet. According to the head of the brand, the novelty will be an all-electric roadster, “which will appeal to even the most avid fans of gasoline cars.”
